The birthday celebration continues at Bigger Picture Blogs with a VERY special Bigger Picture Moment link up.
This week in order to commemorate our second birthday we paired up with another creative soul to combine our talents. In order to spur our creativity we were given musically inspired prompts inspired by an actual playlist.
I was paired with the talented Michelle who created the stunning piece of artwork to accompany my words, and our song was Awake My Soul by Mumford and Sons.

Whoosh.
A mother listens intently to the heartbeat of her unborn child.
She smiles, imagining the life her child will experience.
Love.
Joy.
Peace.
The beginning.
From the moment we take our first breath the soul sparks to life. But it has yet to awaken It hasn’t experienced the world, and needs to learn to live.
It’s the body’s purpose to awaken the soul.
Little things like the soft kiss of the wind on the skin, the lilt of children’s laughter, the breathtaking view of a crystal blue lake and the embrace of hug so tight it could squeeze the life right out of you.
They accumulate, and the soul grows.
But as the body grows, sometimes the soul can get lost in the mix, pushed aside amidst the hustle and bustle of car pools, work deadlines and stress.
You must not allow your fickle heart to neglect the meaningful and put meaning into the superficial. A soul unfed from the fruits of life can wither and die. You must invest in the soul, even when the currency is scarce.
It’s difficult. But there are helping hands along the way. You may have to look hard, squint your eyes and block out the rest of the world, but you will see them. They will fill your soul when you feel it might be running on empty.
All you need is to allow yourself to be loved and love in return.
As the love grows, so does the soul and with each passing year, its light shines brighter and brighter. Finally creating a light so bright it penetrates the darkness.
Beep.
Beep.
Beep.
A daughter clasps the hand of her mother as she listens to the last beat of her heart.
An ending.
The soul, so full of life and light breaks free from its confines.
It is finally AWAKE.

Oh my goodness. I’m sitting here stunned. I’m listening to the song that inspired this piece, and simply enraptured by these words “It’s the body’s purpose to awaken the soul,” the story told, and the unexpected, but perfect, haunting ending. Wow, you guys. Wow.
Love the way you each put this together – the art & the heart felt words – I took in my breath at the beep beep beep – and let it out as I realized – yes she was free. Beautiful – love it all!
These words for me were life and hope giving. Brook did not know that in 2010 I held my mother’s hand and sang Amazing Grace to her as she took her last breath on this earth. I had no idea this collaboration would be so powerful.
I had no idea…and I know I told you this, but my dad passed two years ago and I too held his hand as he passed. Writing this helped me know that his soul is where it needs to be. Thank you so VERY much. I loved this collaboration and … if you want to do another I’m up for it.
