Cickity, Clack, Clickity, Clack.
Furiously I transpose the words in my head onto the computer screen. Trying to take advantage of the quiet time between dinner and bedtime.
Pitter patter, pitter patter.
“Mom.”
I vaguely hear the word over the thoughts swirling in my head.
“MOM!”
“Yeah. What’s up bud?” I ask curtly. Trying to multi -task.
“What are you doing?”
“I’m trying to write buddy.” I reply sternly.
“But mom, we are watching the Olympics and we’d really like you to come and watch with us.”
I open my mouth ready to tell him no, that I’m too busy, that I have too much to do.
But I catch myself, and swallow the “no’s” that are on the tip of my tongue.
Slowly I close my computer, and say the words he’s been longing to hear…
“Ok.” I say, as I grasp his small hand in mine and we make our way to the couch, to snuggle, to watch, to be.

This reminds me of the Mary and Martha story in the Bible where Martha works her fingers to the bone preparing a feast while Mary sits at Jesus’ feet and listens to Him, and Jesus kindly and lovingly tells a frustrated Martha that Mary has chosen the better while inviting Martha in to do the same.
In much the way of Mary, you had a decision to make, and you chose the better. Hands down.

Oh this…I need to remember more often. May my YES be heard more often than my NO.

Love it! I choose tasks with tangible outcomes far too often. I tend to forget that loving, nurturing, and being are more important than any to-do list. Great reminder!
Saying yes is so important
They’ll remember…

Aww sweet!! Sorry I’m late – I was in Bangkok fully expecting internet at the hotel…but alas, no. I just got back and am trying to now catch up.
Anyway, it sounds like that was a very worthwhile yes!

Definitely the best decision! We are loving the Olympics as you can imagine here in the UK, I got to see the torch pass through my town and also managed to get tickets to one of the events. Good to hear that you are enjoying it too!!

That is so cool, I’ve been chatting with Gem about it too. It must be crazy exciting to see it all unfold.
