Just Virtual Coffee

Good Morning.

If we were really meeting for coffee I’d have a double with a sinus pill on the side. My allergies are going C-R-A-Z-Y. It didn’t help that I spent the weekend outside, I always have a great time, but I know I’ll pay for it later.

Then I would tell you how the triathlon is less than a month away and I’m FREAKING OUT! When I did the tri two years ago I trained and trained and trained and trained…you get the point. This time all I’ve been doing is keeping up with Farrell’s and sporadically running, swimming and biking. Last night was only the second time I’ve been on my bike in a year and half … ugh! It felt good and I cranked out 10 miles in no time, but the tri route consists of HUGE HILLS, so I’m a little nervous.
A self portrait on the bike.

I did however head to Scheels and buy my race apparel. The last time I did a tri I borrowed a tri suit from my friend.
See all one piece, which makes it quite difficult to go to the bathroom, which you have to do like every five minutes because you are so hydrated. This year I’m doing a two piece with a cushion pant to help with the bike ride. Supposedly, you can just pee in this and keep on movin’ (I know TMI). But I’m not sure if I can consciously do that, but I guess if you gotta go you gotta go. Any other racers out there, know what I’m talking about?

I would also share with you that after not drinking for over a year and half, I went out with friends and got a little tipsy. Next morning, HANGOVER. UGH! I haven’t had a hangover in YEARS. WOW! I think once you reach a certain age (ie: over 30) Hangovers have a way of just lasting FOR FREAKING EVER! I drank loads of water, took two Advil and went out in the fresh air and gardened. Five hours later hangover cured. But I don’t think I’ll be doing that again anytime soon. Although, isn’t that what we all say. Ha!

Then I would share this beauty of a picture with you. Sorry it’s a little blurry and the lighting sucks, but this is what E decided to wear to school today.
It took all my will power not to force him to change. Actually, I had two shirts ready to go and E said “Nope mom this is my decision. I picked it out and this is what I’m wearing.” Well, there you have it Mr. Independent speaks.

So, how was your weekend? Hopefully, we don’t have anymore stormy weather. My heart goes out to all those people in Joplin. We were very lucky that all we had was hail and heavy rain. Did you have severe weather where you were?

I’m looking forward to the long weekend. How about you? I’m thinking grillin’ with friends, planting some flowers and just chillin’. Ahhhh…sounds good already.

Let’s head over to Amy’s for more caffeinated conversation.

    >I bow to your Highness, doing a triathlon. Actually – doing ANOTHER triathlon! I don't know if I could pee and keep going but I have heard it's done…And alas, the dreaded hangover. Colossal wastes of time, if you ask me. Much better to prepare to NOT have one. Good luck with the race(s).

  2. Iowa Sunshine says:

    >i've never heard of a pee-able athletic suit, but it may save a few minutes … what brilliant marketing (even for non tri-ers — hehe!!! love your son's outfit, and his hand strategically placed. good for you for doing the tri … which event do you like best?

  3. Moomser says:

    >I'm exhausted just thinking about a triathlon, I would never be able to do it, kudos to you! and thanks for coffee!

  4. >I'm stopping by from virtual coffee to say hello 🙂

Kudos to you for even completing one triathalon! I'm always so scared of the swimming part that I just stick to 5 and 10km runs.

Good luck with your training and thanks for coffee!

  5. Jade @ Tasting Grace says:

    >Ugh allergies. Yeah they're giving me grief too these days. They're worse here in Thailand than they ever were for me in CA.

Man a triathalon, you're hardcore. Good luck though! And pee suits? Wow that's amazing.
