Scenes from My Life: Sending a Hug

The sky was crystal blue and clear. I felt the crispness in the morning air, a hint that fall would soon be approaching. The drive to work was uneventful, I walked into the news station where I worked. “Good Morning,” I said joyfully. And no one answered everyone was glued to the tragedy unfolding on the television.

Silence. Chaos. The world forever changed.

I hug those I love.

The sky was crystal blue and clear. I felt the crispness in the morning air, a hint that fall would soon be approaching. A little redheaded toddler babbles in the carseat behind me, chatting about trucks and choo choos. I smile.

I hop back in the car, and head to work. The sun shining above, happy pop songs on the radio, I sing along with a smile.

“Good Morning,” I say joyfully.

The day continues with smiles, and busy work.

Walking in the door I hear, “MAMA!!!” from two smiling boys. They charge toward me smothering me with tackle hugs.

I hug those I love.

Eleven years later the world may have changed, but one thing remains the same a simple hug can make all the difference.

For those we have lost, for those left behind and for those that keep on fighting, I’m sending a hug to you on a day we will always remember.
