Eleven years ago today I exchanged wedding vows with that cute boy I met on the internet. We’ve been through it all. The joys of life’s blessings, the birth of two boys, the passing of those we loved and arguments about stupid crap.
There’s no one else I’d rather have by my side Come What May ….
And boy did a lot come my way this week.
It always seems that a giant shit storm happens after a long relaxing {yet soggy} weekend. First and foremost, since I spent most of the weekend in excruciating hip pain, I was a bear to deal with. GRRRR…the hubs attempted to calm my savageness with movies and some alone time. He’s always thinking.
While it helped my mood, my hip was still yelping in agony. Some trips to the chiro, sports med and a date with my massage therapist all yielded the same diagnosis. Weak legs led to a strained butt muscle. Some ultrasound, a shot in the arse and some massage work as well as some PT will help me get to my race. Post race it looks like I’ll be channeling my inner weight lifter since I’m almost 40 {ahem} and need more muscle mass.
Needless to say, that meant training was on hold all week, which was excruciating. It’s so very hard for me to sit still and just “be”. So today when I was finally given the green light to go, I went and got my sweat on.
Which has helped alleviate my stress about E and summer break. This past week has been a nightmare at school, yelling, screaming and so annoyed with those damn gnats {can’t blame him on that one} It was so bad we’ve had to pick him up early from school every day this week.
Unfortunately we don’t think he can be in a normal summer camp situation.
So…where does he go and what do we do?
We want to hire a nanny for the summer for BOTH boys, but now that all the students are gone and school is out it’s going to be hard. Plus, we need to be open and honest with whomever is watching him about his behavorial issues. Yet again, I wish we could afford for me to be a SAHM, then none of this would be an issue. Oh, if only we would have won the lottery…GAH…
Then there’s the packing, which hasn’t even been attempted. I keep hoping the packing fairies will come and do it for us…fingers and toes crossed.
However, no matter how bad the shit storm gets, I always know my wonderful hubs will be by my side. Doing his share of shoveling and giving me nose doinks to cheer me up.
Oh, and as always there were some great Sound Bytes to make me giggle.
3. G: “Stay home day?”
ME: “No, sorry buddy.”
G: “Ohhhhh…go away. I go back to bed.”
Wait a minute did he just morph into a teenager overnight? Oh…this is gonna be bad when he gets older.
2. “Dad you need to clean the Porsche so it can return to its blackness and its awesomeness.”
True that big E.
1. “I do.”
The two words I said eleven years ago today, and I say every day. It’s been a great ride babe and I look forward to the years ahead.
It’s time to get ready for our “date night” wherein we spend hours deciding where to eat and what we are going to do. When in actuality all we want to do is chill in front of the TV…we are simple people.
Have GREAT weekend, COME WHAT MAY!
Happy Anniversary! I will be thinking of you.
