I’m still here. The world didn’t end.
Honestly, I had no doubts, but since worry has permeated my brain a little bit of me wondered.
Who was totally right about the storm {thumbs pointing at this girl}. Yesterday’s blizzard gave way to glorious sunshine this morning. I’m feeling … shall I say…a tad Christmasy, and maybe even a tad less owly.
I need to remember that there are some things that are beyond my control like blizzards and other daily happenings, but how I react, and cope with these obstacles is solely on me. So I will pull up my big girl panties and start facing these road blocks with a smile, with a grin, with a giggle, and with a positive attitude, because no one likes a Debbie Downer, she’s toxic and a tad nutso.
Also, all this negativity and fear is erasing the best time of the year – Christmas! I know for a fact that if I don’t get my jingle jumpstarted I’ll regret it on December 26, when all the wrappings and trappings have disappeared and I’m left staring at kindling and that creepy elf.
It’s time to rejoice in the holidays…
Time to pack up the PJ clad kiddos and cruise the city looking at Christmas lights.
Time to {burn} bake some cookies.
Time to relax by the fire and just stare into the Christmas tree.
Time to NOT FEEL GUILTY for feeling joyous and grateful.
Because guess what peeps, fear and joy are both contagious and right now I’d tell you that I’d rather catch the joy. Are you with me?
Let’s get this joy-fest started with some interesting Sound Bytes of the Week…{keep in mind not all my Sound Bytes are from the kiddos. Adults can say some pretty funny things too.}
3. “Do you have a gift bag big enough for my sausage?”
Umm…perhaps. Depends on how big it is. In her defense she was giving some summer sausage as a gift.
2. “Stinky Upper is my middle name.”
Oh, E there is no doubt, and I’m sure other boy-moms can attest that there is nothing stinkier than a little boy. Ok, maybe a stinky teenage boy.
1. “And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow, stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so? It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. And he puzzled and puzzled ’till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn’t before. What if Christmas, he thought, doesn’t come from a store? What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more.”
I’ve been reading the Grinch to the boys almost every night {even with G’s Grinch phobia} and I have to say, every time I get this quote I tear up a bit. It’s so very true, Christmas isn’t about all that “stuff” it’s about what’s in your heart.
Happy Holidays everyone…I might be going on small hiatus during the Christmas joy spreading. So have a lovely holiday and may JOY find it’s way to your heart and your doorstep.
