Today marks the beginning of the Iowa State Fair.
Running from August 7 – 17 the Iowa State Fair is the single largest event in the state of Iowa. The fair is a showcase of the state’s best in agriculture, industry and entertainment.
Ironically, I’ve lived in Iowa my whole life and have yet to visit or experience this grande spectacle. Not to say it hasn’t been on my bucket list, it’s even listed in the NY Times best-selling travel book “1000 Places to Visit Before you Die.” Unfortunately, time and schedules have made it difficult to make the trek two hours west to the state capital of Des Moines.
This year we might actually be able to make the trip.
I’m excited to experience all the Iowa State Fair has to offer.
Like the plethora of fried foods. Can you say fried oreos?
The popular musical acts. This year’s entertainment includes the musical talents of Newsboys, Lady Antebellum and Goo Goo Dolls with Daughtry.
And of course the infamous butter cow.
The US Cellular “Band of Better” will also be there ready to enhance summer and provide fair goers with a unique experience.
At the end of August US Cellular will complete a community beautification project as part of their commitment to the community.
