WB Monkey You are Going DOWN!

I have a pet monkey.

He’s not really a pet. More like a super annoying loiterer who hangs out on my back all the time. He just sits there eating bananas and picking at my hair. Oh, and he likes to steal.
This little klepto snatches every little tidbit of creativity from my soul. I’m not exactly sure where he came from, but I do remember the first time I noticed his weight on my back. One day life was going along just fine and then BAM out of nowhere he pounced and took up residence.

I’ve tried to shake him, but he’s a clever little beast. And strong as f—ck. His grasp on my creative soul is a vice. I’m so exhausted by his constant nagging and interfering.

Monkey on My Back

His name is WB, or as I like to call him Writer’s Block.

Years ago writing was my drug.

It helped me find the Big Picture Moments in Life.

It made me listen, so I would never miss a Sound Bite from my kiddos.

It connected me to my tribe.

It gave me a voice in a stifling world.

It held me accountable and helped me achieve my goals.

It inspired and encouraged.

It was the thing that kept me going each day.

Until the monkey.

Stupid monkey.

Right now he’s throwing banana peels at the screen in an effort to distract me from my mission.

My one mission – his demise.

Yes, WB Monkey, I’m going to take you down.

Perhaps I’ll buy a Jaguar to devour you in one bite, but I’m not that cruel. Plus, I don’t know where to buy a Jaguar anyway.

Instead, I’m going to throw those banana peels right back at you, and I’m going to keep typing and typing and typing and typing…

Writer's Block

Because I’m done with you.

You do not control me anymore, and you are done stealing my words and my bananas.
