Bigger Picture Moment: Thankful for 35 Days

In 35 days my mom and step dad will be back in Iowa PERMANENTLY!

Ironically, it was 35 years ago that my parents divorced. My dad raised me and while I spent weekends with my mom, it wasn’t the same. And there was a void.
A void that couldn’t be replaced by daily phone calls or once a year visits. I missed doing just everyday things with her.
But now, now all that’s changed and she will be here…right here…
So in 35 days …
  • The whole family can head to moms for Sunday dinner, and some homemade dinner rolls.
  • Mother daughter mega shopping trips will be taking place on a regular basis and we might even renew the tradition of shopping on Black Friday.
  • Holidays will be celebrated with more than just the four of us.
  • I will be able to take my mom to all the cool places inIowa City, like the Farmer’s Market, the Ped Mall and of course maybe a football game.
  • We will have an extra set of hands in case the flu invades our house.
  • A trip to The Mall of America is in the near future {for sure}.
  • A trip toChicagois in the near future as well.
And BEST of all the thing I will look forward to the most…is just being able to pop over to her house say “hi” and have a cup of coffee.
It’s only taken 35 years and 35 days for that to happen, but I’m VERY thankful that it did.
Love you MOM!
For those of you lucky enough to have your mom live close to you, don’t take it for granted.
And for those of you who don’t make sure you plan a visit.
Life is too short.
