Five Minute Friday {On Saturday }: Delight

On Fridays around these parts we stop, drop, and write.

For fun, for love of the sound of words, for play, for delight, for joy and celebration at the art of communication.

For only five short, bold, beautiful minutes. Unscripted and unedited. We just write without worrying if it’s just right or not. Won’t you join us?
Today’s topic. DELIGHT

Ready….GO…

“You’re Going to Dance.”

“You’re Going to Dance.”

“You’re Going to Dance.”

“And Have Some Fun…”

Perhaps you recognize those lyrics. They are from one of my FAVORITE songs “Grove is in the Heart” by the one hit wonder group Dee Lite.

Probably not the “delight” you were thinking, but when my mind wanders one way it’s hard to steer it back…so I will roll with it.

This is one of my go to songs when I’m running late, I’m grouchy, the kids are running around like crazies and the world just seems to be coming to an undeniable end {at least until my head hits the pillow}.

As soon as I hear those first three lines, my mood immediately changes and I can’t help but tap my toes and on many occasions a spontaneous dance party will occur. The song is actually so old vintage that I even hear it in the mall once in a while, and the urge to break out in dance is overwhelming. I have strong urges to reenact the early 90’s iPod commercials. Ha! I’m totally dating myself.

But when a song moves you so much that it just takes the first three lines to turn a frown upside down I’d say that’s pure Delight no matter how you spell it.

STOP!

  1. >Amen! Music is such a delight isn't it? I have a couple go-to videos that are sure to cheer me up.. one of them is the Scrubs episode where everyone breaks out in song through the whole show. It's awesome and always makes me laugh… it's seen me through some major depression..
